I'll Meet You On Mars
It was never enough
We were too brightly minded
Mind you, it was never enough
Straying from your moral compass
You kindly confided
In me… I needed that
We wore peace signs and tried
To stay composed
But you were too angry
Because they promised that we’d have
Hoverboards by now
And taxis to Mars
So we’re stuck here in cars
Enough to fill the interstate
I offered to drive because
I know that you like
To look at the scenery
And shoot passing drivers
With you fingers shaped as a gun
I’m sorry that we talk less
Than we used to
It’s hard to listen to you cry
When you’re not crying
About me
I can’t always be that to you
But something more
In different circumstances
We suppose
Perhaps I’ll hoverboard
Down the sidewalk
To your house
On Mars
We were too brightly minded
Mind you, it was never enough
Straying from your moral compass
You kindly confided
In me… I needed that
We wore peace signs and tried
To stay composed
But you were too angry
Because they promised that we’d have
Hoverboards by now
And taxis to Mars
So we’re stuck here in cars
Enough to fill the interstate
I offered to drive because
I know that you like
To look at the scenery
And shoot passing drivers
With you fingers shaped as a gun
I’m sorry that we talk less
Than we used to
It’s hard to listen to you cry
When you’re not crying
About me
I can’t always be that to you
But something more
In different circumstances
We suppose
Perhaps I’ll hoverboard
Down the sidewalk
To your house
On Mars
