May I Call You Juliet?

When last we spoke I asked
"Mae I call you Juliet?"
Reaching out to touch your digits
I promised never to forget
Your despair became more real
with each poem that I read
And when your pain stopped flowing
I feared your heart was dead
The only thing you couldn’t hide behind
Was the painted smile that I saw through
over your invisible disguise
Pouring out the memories
with every teardrop that you’ve shed
Your crimson pillow case cannot conceal
all the times your heart has bled

When the truth in each other’s eyes
hides behind a clear disguise
Two voices cannot speak
within ears silent to hear
Lost hearts do not beat in harmony
with the clicking of keys on boards
In quite the same way as when fingers play scales
plucking exposed spinal chords
or quivering cut thighs...
The only thing you couldn’t hold inside
Was the red that kept your heart alive
Your ghost now haunts my thoughts
even though you will survive

Some say suicide is painless
but no one has died and lived to tell
So much pain to follow you to Hell
and one Mae never know
what dreams may come after we go
My bottle's full of pills to take away my pain
Beyond thunder storms of tears hidden by the rain
Falling like angels on a Hell bound crazy train
Chain your heart to a dream you'll never share
And shackle yourself in the dungeon of despair
So long as you believe that life is never fair
Clinging to a master who needs you not,
nor does he care

Every shadow is born
From a light on the other side of somewhere
The beauty in you casts shards of glowing white
Blinding bolts reflecting off the dark midnight
Unseen by souls that lost their mortal fight
Showered in ambient shadows to hasten their loss of sight
But even here where black is bright
I know that you see me
You know that I see you

Can you see unbound unconditional love
Offers equal opportunity unity?
