letter to dad
Dear Reader,
my brother, dave, wrote this letter to my dad,
some time in the 1980's, I believe.
My mom and dave had taken off to England, while
everyone else stayed in Michigan.
The style of the letter is fairly innocent, although not
really jock shock and awe poetry writing of the internet era we currently live in.
enjoy!
mom says it isn't fair.
Thats because we are on a train and are not
at the fair.
I am writing to announce, proclaim and wish
the person we know as father, a happy
birthday. (Hi dad).
Has been nice in Oxford. We have seen many
of the beasts called 'cows' and have seen a few
horses. And have enjoyed seeing them.
We have eaten and drunken the food and drink of England
and have survived. We are now on our way to see
the famous winchester cathedral of which the song "winchester
cathedral" is about. And hope to enjoy it.
Mom is constantly prodding me to write letters as it brings
merriment to the receiver. And it instructs me in the art
of letter writing. However, such ends are not always accomplished.
Honey and Grandad along with mom, have been prodding
me to get involved with the girls at my hall in Oxford.
However the concept of "girl" is foriegn to me, and thus there
is a gap in our communication at this point.
Yet Sometimes I catch on and am able to relate to them my interactions with
the female type.
The communication does not get too far, though, as I recall Honey's
beleif that females can always capture males by "twisting them
around their finger'(s), which is a beleif that I do not share,
or adhere to. Thus that subject is short lived. Which is just as well.
The countryside is nice and refreshing.
With tall green grass and an occasional wheat feild.
and we have seen many of those gigantic cooling towers
that look so majestic.
Oh yes, There are no mosquitos here in Oxford,
which is nice.
