Lonely in this place
If everything has a reason then
What's the reason for you leaving
I've got my doubts about
Most everything I know
I'm doing all I can
But it wasn't long ago
I watched the silence slip
While you were breathing
I felt your hand lose grip
Watched your face
As you were leaving
One last time, I traced the lines
I don't know how to say goodbye
I'm here in this lonely place
Try to think of ways
To make it through the days
I used to pray
Beg for time to stay
Plead, just a little longer
Please, be merciful and kind
I don't want to be left behind
I'm lonely in this place
I see your face, but I'm afraid
When passing time takes that away
When my memories start to fade
Will I forget everything you had to say?
As the years pass by
Will I forget your voice, your laugh, your eyes?
I'm lonely in this place
I used to pray
But I'm not asking why
And I don't know how to say goodbye
