The Painted Face
The shaded face was
colorful and bright,
The eyes were gray
stone, but open wide,
They ran to the
painting and looked;
There were parabolas,
parallels, and diversions,
Yet fearful stories
in geometries never realized.

the title allows me to conjure a shady lady. our own fanatical interpretations: this is how we attain pleasure from poems...

Pishashee, luv ~
I keep thinking of the Gorgon of ancient Greek mythology and how she transfixed those who saw her. Those grey stone eyes, you see... :-*
Yet, there's more here and what I am at a loss to fathom, but something is teasing at my mind. You often do that, luv - tease and prod at my mind. ;-*

Thank you so much Savaja. This poem has become bothersome for me since I wrote and posted it - there's just so much missing now that I think about it; more of a ride for the reader maybe. Its all just so abstract. Maybe that's what's teasing your mind because its teasing mine too. Interesting, The Gift of the Gorgon is on my list of books to read, if ever I get through the ones that I've committed to before it anyway. Busy busy busy lately, and I've had to place poetry to the side a bit. Thank you Savaja, don't be surprised if or when you see this one again, spiffed up a bit. :)
