Anything but
I don't offer you anything but a chance,
Anything but a shot,
I don't offer you guaranty,
But I don't offer you anything less than my best try.
I don't offer anything but my brightest ideas,
My most tender emotions,
I don't offer you things,
But I don't offer anything that isn't real.
I don't offer you anything but novelty,
Anything not worth the ride,
I don't offer you predictability,
But none of the gruesome expectations, either.
Sincerely, I don't offer anything but myself,
Anything but a thing evolving, growing,
And my will is for us to do so, side by side,
That is, if you yourself would like to take a swing,
To put on your best face, and all your chaos on the table,
Dine and share our imperfections over wine;
We shall, until the branches by their nature split,
If ever they do, if my heart's feeling isn't anything but true.
Anything but a shot,
I don't offer you guaranty,
But I don't offer you anything less than my best try.
I don't offer anything but my brightest ideas,
My most tender emotions,
I don't offer you things,
But I don't offer anything that isn't real.
I don't offer you anything but novelty,
Anything not worth the ride,
I don't offer you predictability,
But none of the gruesome expectations, either.
Sincerely, I don't offer anything but myself,
Anything but a thing evolving, growing,
