I keep losing friends
quicker than I can make them
and I swear to every deity
we do and don’t believe in
I’ve never missed any of them
more than I’ve missed you
It’s like we’re here but not here
keeping our dark thoughts to ourselves
like they’re something to fear
And I wish I could break down
the walls you wear in silent defeat
the ones erected for your own protection
that are more prison than salvation
because I wear them too
and I don’t want to wear them
with you
I keep losing friends
quicker than I can make them
and I swear to every deity
we do and don’t believe in
I’ve never missed any of them
more than I’ve missed you
