Blue Diamonds
Blue Diamonds
---------------------------------------------------------
I stare into your eyes,
My mouth searching for words,
I'm uncertain how to phrase,
What I need to tell you.
I see behind your blue hued lenses,
Something special, a spark of life,
That thing that I have never seen before,
I'm lost for the breifest of seconds.
I stare on, awkward as I choke,
On words gone unsaid,
Fighting, willing myself,
To speak, but my mouth is frozen.
I let it sink into an awkward smile,
Resigning my words to silence,
Because I don't want to scare you,
With the phrase that might escape.
You look back at me,
"Creep," you say,
And your face brightens,
To the most beautiful smile.
Your eyes illuminate,
And I can see it again,
That flit of light,
Which makes any pain worthwhile.
It's still there,
Long after I thought it would fade,
I would do anything,
To see those blue diamonds every day.
Not out of desperation,
As might be claimed,
But of something deeper,
That cannot be explained.
I know there's a chance,
You may not reciprocate,
But I hope that some day,
Your fears, I might placate.
Because without those blue diamonds,
My world would be much bluer,
And without them,
The stars burn cooler.
