New Age Hippie
I went to Frisco today
I was so stoked
Listening to Sound of Silence, Signs and Ask Alice
Tripping to the music
Dreaming of all the hippies i'd find there
Made sure to feed my head
Went to Haight street
Everyone was in black
Like some corporate uniform
I was so disappointed
The flower children of the past
Had turned into yuppies
In such a hurry scurrying
Here and there
I'm thinking what the hell man?
Then I saw them
The new age hippies
With their hair all in dreads
Smoking and toking
Out in the open
Lying on the grass
Holding philosophical conversations
Artists, poets, musicians
With their lives in their back packs
They left what ever town
They had originally come from
Are now living life on the edge
Checked out of society
Saying fuck the man
I'm going to see the world
Roam free like a breeze
Touch mother nature
Fuck corporate America, i'm going to live as I please
I love these people
I wish I had the courage
To check out and live by my wits and art
Though lets face it
It takes a lot of heart
Living life this way
Wondering where your next meal will come from
Man i'm envious
Theres nothing better then doing without
Then having your brother
Say hey man you need to get high?
I can help you out.
