Fishing
When I go fishing
I use a tiny hook
And a worm
But no weight
Because a weightless worm
Looks natural
And will catch anything
As it flutters in the current
I just want a bend in my rod
So I throw it out
And wait
Dreaming of a nice
14 inch brook trout
With beautiful spots
Of yellow and red
Some with blue halos
And flesh so sweet
And pink
A keeper for sure
I will break its neck
To kill it quick
So it doesn't suffer
Because I love it
And I will gut it quick
To prevent the flesh
From spoiling
And I will pan fry it
With butter and garlic
Tail and head attached
To keep the moisture in
But alas
I keep hooking sunfish
They put up a good fight
But don't have spots
Nor the slender build
Of a brook trout
And they tend to swallow the hook
Because they are fat
And glutinous
So I cut the line
And throw them back
Hook in throat
But it will rust out
And they will live
I greatly enjoy
Playing them
And sometimes
I let them take line
To extend the fight
Oh well
Line goes back in
Maybe the next bite
Will be a brook trout
The thought
Makes my mouth water
I use a tiny hook
And a worm
But no weight
Because a weightless worm
Looks natural
And will catch anything
As it flutters in the current
I just want a bend in my rod
So I throw it out
