MIND PHILOSOPHY
I’ve studied the blue print of Africa’s forgotten and unsung revolutionaries
I spark conscious thoughts of revolutionary ideology amongst my contemporaries
Always setting in motion a train of thoughts that reawakens heroic tendencies
Self liberating words interwoven explicitly to enlighten minds in my sentences
Blowing off dust settled on facts as I’ve searched deep quoting from lost diaries
Of war veterans, true Pan African heroes revealing tales of the past centuries
In my mind voyages I’ve been to the era of noble men who stood for truth & honesty
Discipline was a norm and everybody was treated equal without any sort of bigotry
Uprightness was practiced; making a good name was worth more than silver and gold
There existed a civilization of wise men and none dared to have his conscience sold
The black race in Africa was the pride of planet earth before the invasion of slavery
The incursion of our native kingdoms and forceful exiling of kings who fought bravely
In the year 1897 a punitive expedition was launched against the famous Benin City
Priceless artefacts were destroyed and historical items were looted by colonialist
We forget so soon the western backed assassination of our prominent Nationalist
The killings of Patrice Lumumba, then prime minister of newly independent Congo
The western backed bloody coup d’état that killed Thomas Sankara of Burkina Faso
Lucid and brilliant leaders in Africa, in the likes of Amilcar Cabral, were brutally wasted
Puppets were installed to govern us by proxy while the colonial master’s reign lasted
Laws limiting our sovereign growth to the advantage of foreign powers were enacted
History has now been distorted to discredit the influences such great leaders exerted
We lost the teachings that instilled confidence & pride in us, our ways now are perverted
Religion has now divided our once harmonious people irrespective of our varying tongues
The sounds of black women & children singing and dancing is now replaced by war drums
We are self destructive now just as our enemies had programmed our mindset as bombs
What happened to our dignity and acknowledgement of the sanctity of human lives?
We’ve betrayed our fore-fathers forsaking their primitive beliefs but we are more barbaric
It’s a shame to see how we’ve fallen from grace to grass, our perpetual ignorance is tragic.
