Parallel to Perpendicular
The path I walk is hard to see,
And a storm is looming over me.
But the trail has a wide girth.
It's been that way since my birth.
Every time I stray from the path,
All I ever hear is my own wrath.
I don't even hear the vapid sound,
When my bloody knees hit the ground.
As I get back on track,
I'm tempted to look back.
I look to see what made me fall,
But it's all obscured by a wall.
Even when I'm down, I never stop,
And my incessant speed will never drop.
The storm is always close behind,
Giving constant torment to my mind.
The sun rises white from it's bed,
But when it sets, it sets red.
The path that I will forever trod,
Is perpendicular to the path of God.
Somewhere in the middle we will meet,
My mortal life gone and complete.
We'll talk and look back on my life.
We will see every joy and strife.
He'll tell me the truth and time of day,
Then he will send me on my way.
I'll continue along my trail,
Knowing I will never fail.
The worst will be lost in the past,
And I shall rest my raw legs at last.
And a storm is looming over me.
But the trail has a wide girth.
It's been that way since my birth.
Every time I stray from the path,
All I ever hear is my own wrath.
I don't even hear the vapid sound,
When my bloody knees hit the ground.
