or an old man's cane
still strong but mighty worn
like an unopened book
last month's electric bill
or pictures in a draw
moments collecting dust
like a pigeon in a coop

This read smoothly. I like how you used concrete imagery, as in things we all know and see. Also, as others said, love the simplicity. Nice write.
