Honesty is liberating
often harsh
sometimes brutal
and more precious than gold
       
It begins with oneself
then spreads as we speak
it and nothing else
in every situation, regardless
     
Some place great value in this treasure
while others pretend, unable to accept it in full
they choose to deny, deceive
tarnish its luster

Having not the desire nor capacity
to navigate the harshness of reality
taking a crooked path of deception
forsaking the straits of candor
where genuine, personal wealth resides

Disagree or deflect if you wish
Deceit is the slag
Denial, the rooted impurity
most difficult to remove

The truth is incontrovertible
Smelted with character
Purified by practice
Most precious of all
