one tree casts a shadow upon the entire forest

The title works very well for this piece, sets the theme very well. In terms of honest critique, I actually think you could have done without the first line 'time ticks' - You could have almost just started on 'waiting in anticipation'.

"each moment
heavier than the next
A hollowness
until I reach that place"

This was the highlight for me. There is a subtle sadness in this piece, which makes it a painful yet enjoyable read.
