WHISPERS ARE MUSIC TO MY EARS
River of tears seem to drown your heart forever
forever grieving first love lost in the murky river
Fear of the night alone brings you to tears
tears dried up once you conquered the fear
Hiding for so long you forgot about living
living in empty nest, time to come out of hiding
Raven hair of yours comes down from heaven
heaven only knows why it’s black as a raven
Desires of mine to touch it are like raging fires
fires burning my soul always filled with desires
Vespers of love heard as the wind gently whispers
whispers are music to my ears in times of vespers
Embrace me with your warmth as I’m falling from grace
grace so divine, I am longing for your blazing embrace
Tears of joy filled my heart and cast away my fears
fears of losing you forever washed away in tears
Loving you is worth more than living
living without you, my heart would stop loving

Sometimes if we only pay attention well enough, we can hear music in the rustling of leaves, the bubbling of brooks and so many other nature sounds.

with my "musically drunk" brain this write took me back to both Clapton's "River Of Tears, and "Old Love".

I haven't heard those tunes...thanks for mentioning them. I can't believe you mentioned Eric Clapton because I just watched him last night singing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Paul Mcartney.

I just listened to River of Tears on YouTube and I can't believe a song as beautiful as that wasn't that popular as Clapton's other hits like Tears in Heaven and many more.
I'm glad I haven't heard it before I wrote this poem, otherwise I might be tempted to use "drowning in river of tears" and the whole composition could have gone in that direction. Although I have used drown in a different context and in third person's perspective.

That version was on the Concert For George. I normally don't think much of concerts featuring multiple artists, but this one had real class. It also includes Paul starting "Something" on the ukulele, which turns into another duet with Clapton, and Paul doing 2 other Harrison songs. Great video!

the whole album wasn't well received by the critics---for me it ranks up there with 461 Ocean Blvd. as one of his best studio releases. (noticed I excluded live albums)
