I only have one objection to this and that's the word "HISTORY" ...
... I've often broken down this word into two components for my students when we talk about America: His Story - as in the annuls of this country are often told from the perspective of the very egocentric males you mention ...
For me a word like TRUTH or MAJESTY would have worked better in your piece

Hey! Thank You! I'd like to appreciate you for addressing that. See, back in 7th grade I had a teacher who brought that to our attention and it freaked us out, but was so true. She said, "What WE need is "Ourstory", and so I have decided to edit this and change it to that, instead (for the sake of being poetic) since I still meant the same idea.
