She was a remarkable woman. I've read her poems and her Bio and I respect her for being such a gifted writer, poet and strong African American woman. She will truly be missed.

I've idolized her and she's one of the reasons why I write poetry.
I miss her very much and I cried my eyes out when she died so I miss her, but am thankful she died peacefully and not brutally like some other stars. she was a remarkable woman and my favorite poem by her was Phenomenal Woman.

Maya's beauty is so rich is several ways
we are better when that is echoed in our days
overcoming hardships and turning cold
deep seeded courage and not afraid to be bold
a favorite of a president I collected her words from that day
when he took the oath office her words held so much sway
thank you for sharing such a marvelous treasure
and for giving my eyes such a rewarding pleasure!
