Demeaning the Daughter

Even to this day, girls are
being called all sorts of names.

Don't demean your daughters
like your father did to you.

Let them feel loved like the
mother that looked after you.

Treat them like the doctor
who treated your open wound.

A superficial lover that kissed
every tear away.

Like the sun that warmed your face.

Don't let others cackle if there isn't
a space between her legs.

A splotch and scar here and there.

Protect and prepare your baby girl from
the world that says she can't do it.

Encourage her thoughts and
give her some wisdom.

Yeah, she'll make mistakes.

From scraping her knee to telling
a long list of lies.

She'll make you proud
she'll make you frown.

Just don't demean the daughter
like your father did to you.

Let her know she is worth more
than the sun itself.

Because the day she leaves
you can live with no regrets.
