Colorful - Senryu
My love’s a rainbow
A bright bow from earth to sun
Airy vibe that breathes
I did it again.
Wrote a terribly long emotional poem
thought about it at least
as long as I had been crafting it
made an excerpt -
came up with a senryu.
Again. Sigh...
What's wrong with me?

Re: Colorful - Senryu
Since I believe a poem is
the essence of a thought, a
feeling, a thing, or a situation
stripped to it's essentials, you
seem to me to be a poet, Miss
Chi..:)

I fully agree with you, Paul. I feel good with short poems or haikus or senryus but am still a bit worried to seemingly not being able to craft much longer poems. But you put it so lovely, your thought about this matter is so consoling that I'll be content with the pure essences. Well, that's why I like your poems so much. Thank you!

I've written long poems at times...
but all those extra words left me
no nearer to what I wished to say;
they seemed to take me further
away, if anything...

Same with me.
Sometimes I feel like many words
but when I reread and polish those poems
many words become so unmeaning and superflues that I brutally erase them.
The output: A senryu. Again and again.
Your own 'shorties' speak volumes, Paul,
always worth the reads :-).

I love that you can break it down to its simplest and most beautiful expression…xx

Glad you say so, dear JeJe. Sometimes I think it's only the inability to create something more substantial, but then again, a short poem could be substantial enough. Thank you, my dear friend! xx

I just read it and find it simply wonderful! It's all in there and so meaningful! You did a great job! I'd love to read more of you! Glad and a little proud that my senryus inspired you to try a shorty :-). Thank you for your lovely words!xo

Kind of know that feeling, dear Chi...
Of being in the process of creating something and then running back to your usual writing style...
You are the haiku queen!

That is so sweet of you to say so, Fay! I feel honored and am glad that you put it that way. Could have said: She's (Chi's) not able to vary :-). But of haikus in general I'm really fond.

There you see, a Haiku, created at an instant!!!

Ah, not quite, I'm afraid ...
Haikus require a certain form:
Three lines, 17 syllables in total
1. five syllables
2. seven syllables
3. five syllables
But if we polish it a bit it might work:
Chi's not able to
vary but of haikus in
general she's fond.
That's it :-).
Thanks for inspiring me, Fay!

Sweet of you to say so, John.
Very much appreciate your flattering words!
Haikus come easy to me, that's a fact but nevertheless I ask myself sometimes
if it's just like that because
the English grammer isn't that troubling
thanks to their shortness :-).
