Mr. Colour-Blind

Well, you see here,
That I'm in a bind.
I've never been one to borrow love
Just known to run on borrowed time.

"Dear 1943, the first time we met
you captivated me.
Your Clark Gable ideal,
You Bogart all the love;
You made me believe these things were real,
As if the reel inhabited us."

"So you shut your eyes
And the world went black,
But just because you say it is
Doesn't make it fact."

Mr. Colour-Blind,
Oh, I don't mind
the way you only see
In black and white.
Oh, I don't mind
the way you lose your sight-
cause when you fall behind
I call your name,
Oh, Mr. Colour-Blind
And you call back every time.

Well, I've been told
that the good die young
and that the young grow old.
And I've been trying tell
where it is I've begun
And which pages i should fold?
Maybe it was that day
Where you left a taste of
sugar, rum, and ash.
You said you'd never seen me smile that way
And you were so sure that it wouldn't last.

Its the last time I remember
That you ever believed my words:
"love is not a battle,
you cannot win what you cant coerce-"
And dear if i could have stayed a while,
if i could have made it true,
i would have stayed and fought the trial,
but i fear im a tad bit too abused.

Mr. Colour-Blind,
Oh, I don't mind
the way you only seeIn black and white.
Oh, I don't mind
the way you lose your sight-c
ause when you fall behind
I call your name,Oh, Mr. Colour-Blind
And you call back every time.

I remember the first day i met you
It was June almost July.
Never thought that when I saw you
I'd ever want to call you mine.
now i lay awake for hours
trying to clean a mess in my head
and all this colour gets complicated
so i stay awake as frustration sleeps in my bed.
its alright, this suits me fine.
we all find ways to love
in our own good time.

Mr. Colour-Blind,
Oh, I don't mind
the way you only see
In black and white.
Oh, I don't mind
the way you lose your sight-cause when you fall behind
I call your name,
Oh, Mr. Colour-Blind
maybe one day i'll let you call mine.
until that day
we are neither black or white.
