The Writer

An artist paints
A singer sings but what does a writer do?
Could a writer be condemned for writing?
If a cab driver tries to drive an airplane
Then he or she may disappear and never
be seen again because he or she tried to operate outside their domain.
What  if a  mute tries to speak with his or her tongue?
Mare mutter would be the sound.

Those to be condemned are they that try to do what they cannot
Like a  Latin dancer doing "limbo" at samba dance festival.
But what else can a writer do but write
If a writer stops writing then he or she is no longer a writer
then their identity would be taken away and folks would hear no more
and his or her hobby lost forever and their joy ripped away

But the writer will not stop!
Because if he or she does then he or she will cease to exist!
A singer sings, a dancer dances and a writer writes...
The writer refuses to be condemned to death
by critics who dwell in an oblivion of bewilderment
drowning in assumptions instead of asking questions
and now they condemn to death the writer
who will not put down the pen
because if he or she does that then he or she will
cease to exist
and be forgotten forever
like a dead peasant without heirs or property.
That is not what the writer wants…
So the writer would write… so even after death he or she would
be remembered for what he or she really is, was and forever shall be
a writer..
so the writer will write...
