Coked Up On Starburst Love

Falling in love is like chewing starburst, sweet and juicy at first but then it ends as fast as it all started. You take another one though because it’s a drug you want to keep experiencing over and over. Taking your starburst with the knowledge that the feeling will end is like knowing the end date on your favorite brand of milk, you try to cherish every single drop of it until, eventually, it’s all gone. You knowingly put yourself through all this drama and heartache for the sake of feeling alive again, and for what? To die a little inside as you see your lost love walking by casually, saying “hi” as if you didn’t spend the time of your life with them. You’re foolish enough to take another starburst though, people move on to new flavors and forget the earlier ones. But when you find that one flavor that stood out from the rest you can’t get enough of it. You wake up everyday for it and your plans revolve around it. When you find this flavor you don’t think; you eat, sleep, and dream this flavor. Then it all ends, you ignored your previous encounters with other flavors and thought this one special flavor was going to last forever and your heart shattered into pieces as the flavor slipped away from your mouth and into oblivion, because of course starbursts don’t last forever.
