.:Sallies' Smile:.
just about; almost brunch time and
he’s about ready to
climb & dine
he works the dumpsters; the boxes
the ones by the back doors
strictly Styrofoam
forget them apple cores
partially inside, almost
down on all fours
no vegan, no begging
this is about that leftover bacon
maybe some half eaten fish sandwich
a salmon search, one he can manage
that tartar sauce; he’ll act like he’s famished
maybe cops a few from the fat cat who’s full
that’s his best bet; usually
the rule
meantime it’s mealtime in real time
never knowing where, when or
what you’ll find
but this ain’t no
charlatan’s charade
plastic fork
plastic spoon
plastic blade
while here they come; the blue collar raid
including the first
sunny peaks of Ms. Sallie
this, as the truck, as it
makes way up
the alley
discarded refuse
another
pick-of-the-day
Sallie smiles back
and for sure
it’s ok
