lady boys (this is not a poem)
I don't want to write a freaking poem
I don't want to write a non-freaking poem
I don't want to write a poem at all
Last night I watched a documentary
On Thai lady boys
Beautiful women born
Into the wrong bodies
Denied the right to be
The gender they feel inside
It has nothing to do with poetry
Because I don't want to write a poem
This is merely an observation on human diversity
It's a one sided discussion with myself
It's a process of thoughts and emotions
It's an essay
An article
A work of fiction
A work of truth
A curiosity
A diary entry
A question without an answer
Last night I watched a documentary
On Thai lady boys
And their struggles broke my heart
But I won't be writing a poem about it
I won't be telling you about the poverty
And discrimination
I'll never put down in words
Their plight to be recognized
In the media as more
Than social gimmicks
Or how their government
Considers gender changing surgery
As nothing more
Than a cosmetic endevour
Or how prostitution is often
The only way these women
Can make a living to survive
Denied work in the mainstream industries
No, I'll never tell you
Because I'm not in the mood for poetry
There will be no poetry today
This is not poem
