Alone
You stand wounded and alone
Misery is all you've ever known
Berated by the constant glares
Knowing how much no one cares
You took a chance, took a fall
Set yourself up, only to fail
No matter how you try, it all ends the same
Pride wounded, and yourself to blame
All you wanted was a friend
Someone who wouldn't just pretend
But all you've received is a knife to the back
So many times you seem to have lost track
When will you finally come to realize
That the world is full of lies?
People will deceive you, just to watch you fall
And before you know it, you begin to build a wall
So build your walls, build them high
Just to make sure they don't bleed you dry
Don't trust a single soul, or you might taste betrayal
For everyone wears a mask, with monsters waiting to be unveiled
Misery is all you've ever known
Berated by the constant glares
Knowing how much no one cares
You took a chance, took a fall
Set yourself up, only to fail
No matter how you try, it all ends the same
Pride wounded, and yourself to blame
All you wanted was a friend
Someone who wouldn't just pretend
But all you've received is a knife to the back
So many times you seem to have lost track
When will you finally come to realize
That the world is full of lies?
People will deceive you, just to watch you fall
And before you know it, you begin to build a wall
So build your walls, build them high
Just to make sure they don't bleed you dry
Don't trust a single soul, or you might taste betrayal
For everyone wears a mask, with monsters waiting to be unveiled
