The Mask

One foot after the other
Left, right, left, right
Smile, laugh, nod
It has all become routine to me now
Nobody knows that it's all fake
Can anyone see my bruises?
Can anyone tell if I'm sad or why?

No one sees me wipe away the tears
No one finds me in the bathroom crying
In the sink
No one hears me scream for relief
I plaster on a mask that no one can remove
The mask fools, tricks, deceives
When I am with myself the mask is removed
The tears are aloud to flood
The alcohol sweats from my lips
The insanity floats above my skin
The dagger waits to plunge
Nervously shaking
The mask goes back on
Smile, laugh, nod
