Self Destruction
Tripping over the carcass of life
I have given up the quest
Seeking to run away from strife
To find a place of rest
But slowly I travel further down
And I realize what I have done
I left a good man out to drown
And I can't even say I won
This part of me is like a demon
Dressed as the wolf amongst the flock
Destined to be the prodigal son
But will he come back or leave us shocked
I've thrown it all away
And for such a petty timeless reason
My life a game I shouldn't play
For I've committed the ultimate treason
I have given up the quest
Seeking to run away from strife
To find a place of rest
But slowly I travel further down
And I realize what I have done
I left a good man out to drown
And I can't even say I won
This part of me is like a demon
Dressed as the wolf amongst the flock
Destined to be the prodigal son
But will he come back or leave us shocked
I've thrown it all away
And for such a petty timeless reason
My life a game I shouldn't play
For I've committed the ultimate treason
