That Little Girl

Trapped in this bubble of darkness she weeps
The lost little girl afraid to let her shield recede
She cowers, shaking with a fear she doesn't understand
Letting her doubts flood her soul to the brim
Claw marks cover her body, but blood doesn't come out
Instead the dark red fluid embodies her tears
They etch little marks in her once flawless skin
She wants to scream but she can’t
She wants to reach but she is just so weak
Who is this unfortunate little girl that is so in need?
Nobody can see her
She is invisible to those who don’t look for her
To those who can’t break her barrier
To those who can’t understand
Oh, when did it come to this?
When did that beautiful smile become lost in a sea of the unknown?
Trust used to come oh so easily
Before everything was ripped to miniscule little shreds
Darkness plagues her hopes
“I want to love again!” she yells.
“No, you want to trust again.”
She folds into herself and becomes nothing once more,
Hidden behind the cold stone that encases her soul.
