I Am
Who am I?
A voiceless face.
An enigma among
the human race.
A perversion of God
Created through sin.
An “abomination”
that should never have been.
I am the child
that parents forsake
when they find that I
am just a mistake.
I am the shame
in my father's eyes;
the reason for
my mother's sighs.
I am the hatred
that bubbles inside
the men and the women
who force me to hide.
But who are you,
to think you can say
that I'm a mistake
just because I am gay?
A voiceless face.
An enigma among
the human race.
A perversion of God
Created through sin.
An “abomination”
that should never have been.
I am the child
that parents forsake
when they find that I
am just a mistake.
I am the shame
in my father's eyes;
the reason for
my mother's sighs.
I am the hatred
that bubbles inside
the men and the women
who force me to hide.
But who are you,
to think you can say
that I'm a mistake
just because I am gay?
