Mirrors and Fog
beneath the waves
of puddled tears
hides insecurities
in obscure mirrors
introverted fears
doubts she's had for years
"where does she go?"
when she disappears
unplug
to inspect
from the world
disconnect
vanishing in the hazy
fog of cognition
fine tuning vision
like an optician
she searches self
with a manifying glass
trying desperately not to relive
mistakes of the past
foraging fearful forests
tangled in a thicket of thought
running from what she's chasing
has only come to naught
seeking understanding
has only left her distraught
so she paces the quiet regions
of her mentality
settling in the sacred grounds
of soul's centrality
until happy and sad
merge into balance
in the mirrors and fog
fear is no longer a challenge
all that she learned
she purge upon the pages
lyrical words of a songbird
broken free of life's cages

ah PD you made a one dimensional image into a multi layers. The reflection doenst always show what's hidden, the deep scars and pain but you've shown how one can overcome by accepting the past and moving forward.
I love the structure, its tight and focused just as the story is, Beautifully woven my friend, i love it.

Meta-cognition means you can re-write your own maps once you step back far enough to see them. But damn, it's a hard place for most to follow.

when she disappears
You always have a mountain of appreciation for the finer points of everything, a million stacked smiles to taste. That's living life right, that's strength. A colorful secret garden. If most women were like you, there wouldn't be such a thing as divorce.
But behind the strength?
"where does she go?"
when she disappears
We create ourselves. You must be a good mother to your inner child if you even tendered and nurtured the living traits others would neglect. To disappear after an errant thought, especially a dark-seeded one... to chase it down, not get rabbit-holed into a pit of despair, but to root it out and stare it down? That means honoring that insecurity or fear or mistake. Enough to honor who you were in the moment it happened.
But we almost never let anyone see us when it's repair time. You're a Queen of a million shining facets. I'm glad you have endless fields to work out the hidden flawed ones.
