prisoner

He keeps me barred
He locks me in
Not with steel, with iron, with chain.
He keeps me prisoner with his helplessness.

I could have left,
I could have gone,
To an easier life
Without the stress

But I chose to stay,
To help him cope
To clean his house
And cook his tea.

I worry about him
This father of mine.
I’m the child taking care of the parent.
Couldn’t he show some gratitude?
