Epiphany of Deception

Confusion: a mind lost
Delusion: illusions so real
Solution: a way to fix a problem

I've gotta strange brain
It's going insane
Damaged by this ongoing chain
Of events that never seem to let
Up and just refrain
So I try to restrain
Myself in public and save
The time I'm alone to misbehave

Because there are rules
Breaking character is not cool
That would make me a fool
Since I'm only the image I portray
Even though what I do say
Is said in just the right way
So I don't ruin anyone's day
But why do I give a fuck anyway?
Everyone is the same
We all play these mind games
So we can keep a good name
And not be noticed for our secret shame

And I'm not saying
That's a bad thing
Portraying a character
And just playing an alter ego
Can work to our advantage
As long we don't cause it any damage
By forgetting our own lies
And that's what I've come to realize
