Sewn Shut

Revisited pastimes showcase failures of long ago
Scratching the irritated skin of potential regrets
The caress of this dogmatic state fails to soothe
Deep under those fears of the unknown, it crawls

Resistance to change drowns the seeds of opportunity
My rigid thoughts are swayed into rivers of intolerance

Inertia lulls deprivation into a false sense of security
Bound by the chains of stagnation, I choose to remain

A renewed belief in uncritical thinking follows me home
The hindrance of my limitations buries me in ignorance

Bittersweet are the fruits of Freedom's drudgery
It appears I have been sewn shut for far too long
