She Fell in Love

She gazed often at the winding road
that meanders through the meadow
watching passers-by, giving them the nod
they always went by, never to her door
until one lonesome day she saw
a man walking across the field, towards her

a bold man, a smiling look, gazed at her
‘I am lost I am not from around here
pray tell me where I should go
to find my betrothed, promised long ago’
the banter did melt her body and heart
never yet touched, much less hurt

so they converse through the sunny afternoon
by the evening fire, they talked in the gloom
'You are a diamond, a scented rose in bloom
I need to kiss you, hold you tenderly
to show you just how your beauty
within your heart and soul captured me’

Her heart welled with passionate words
Never before was such love words uttered
His arms around her, she was weakened
His kisses and caresses awakened
the fire all-consuming within her bosom
Melting her firmness and her garments

In her surrender she was a sight of beauty
Arms so white against his dusky skin
not the lonely woman, fit only for pity
but a part of a two, the sensual queen
the man in his thirst, his honour pay
kneeling at her feet, drank her in

She gazed often at the winding road
caressing the baby’s dark haired head
who oblivious, suckled at her breast
covered was her modesty which one night
basked in fiery, fervent wanton lust...
now dried and untouched, curled up in the dust.
