5 Second Burn
Today
started like any other day
Today
hot and burning like yesterday
but
it only took a second to change
the mood was re-arranged
the land around
suddenly strange
I looked at my shaking hands
burned and scalded
like desert sands
There
they were standing
There
once were wandering
through forests of hate
into mountains of discarded fate
out to the sun
There
they were looking
There
where they were searching
Today
started like any other day
Today
hot and burning like yesterday
but
it only took a second to change
the mood was re-arranged
the land around
suddenly strange
I looked at my shaking hands
burned and scalded
like desert sands
Here
we are looking over the edge
Here
we are daring to tease the ledge
through fantasy we find reality
She didn't make it, such a pity
with us
Her laughter
There
dangling by a limb
There
where she's gone to swim
started like any other day
Today
hot and burning like yesterday
but
it only took a second to change
the mood was re-arranged
the land around
