the flag of nothing to conquer
does not flap on the not mountain
but people still caw-call for the glory
of flapping flags and want so much to
be anything other than nothing they
pray-howl at the wind for purpose
flags know it is the mind that moves

Flags are another symbol of identity, to compartmentalise people into groups... Humans can't just be humans until we get some alien invasion to realise who we are. So many only kow how to speak the language of violence.
