Looking back at Today
Today, a mere tick of a clock
coming closer, a little shift
a breath shorter to an end
turning another page in the book
like a single pink shoe on a rack
joined by a red leaf, bright
from the tree branch
blush didn't mean life
looking back at today
gone now into the night
nothing important happened
but a significant grain fell.
a heart beat away, freedom
could call softly in sleep
from a weary mortal sheath
to fly away in liberty
Gently another leaf fell
like an inaudible sigh
a distant lullaby
calling the weary to sleep.
coming closer, a little shift
a breath shorter to an end
turning another page in the book
like a single pink shoe on a rack
joined by a red leaf, bright
from the tree branch
blush didn't mean life
looking back at today
gone now into the night
nothing important happened

a heart beat away, freedom
could call softly in sleep
from a weary mortal sheath
to fly away in liberty
Gently another leaf fell
like an inaudible sigh
a distant lullaby
calling the weary to sleep.
