i swear

When they tell you not to do anything stupid
They mean don't fall in love with the wrong person.
Despite your romantic disposition
Understand that it is just a disposition
And if you allow it the condition itself
Will only worsen.

I am the canchor in your mouth-
Sweet solicitude causing a bitter sore;
Like tongue and cheek have their bouts
I fail to engage but fail to be ignored.

Nature versus nurture:
Do we inflict these wounds by a fault in character
Or because we've been taught that this is the way to interact?
Is this like the dispute of cancer versus interlukin:
Is this hardened resolve
Our evidence backed fact?
Because in this body
I feel ravaged
Coarse
And foreign,
Like soil
Unearthed
Forced
And unnerved,
The blood seeps in to prove only useful in death
Of my casing,
Savage
From years spent awake but as a corpse
In an unmade bed.

You satisfy my disposition
With your awkward
And loving position
And I
I am so sorry
That I could never be the better man
That I fall and fail to stand
For love
And the lack there of.
Oh, but apologies could never be enough...

Nature versus nurture
I've been taught to be opposite of what I am-
I hope one day I'll be able to help you understand.
That it was love,
I swear it is love.
