A Decaying Idol
You hang there on your crucifix, Spitting words of venom
Foaming at the mouth, Your lungs hungry for souls
You hand out every fix, Spitting worlds and heavens
Your god stands idly by, An idol in a stained glass hole
You sell your religion through foolish words and hollow promises
Breaking the mold of innocence and what it means to truly believe
You sell your lies through hidden smiles and childish compromises
Breaking the hold of guilty silences and unblinking eyes that never see
Forcing your monument down their throats, Claiming you're ashamed
They’re cast out, Shunned, Forced upon by wolves that answer to you
Forcing your hand upon their heads, You’re a disease with no name
They’re burned down, Cursed, Fallen from the hell you’ve chosen to rue
Thousands may stand by in blind indifference, But I refuse to bow
You may have fooled them all, But you will never fool a fool
Thousands may walk the mighty distance, But I refuse to now
You may have built the wall, But you will never flee the fuel
As your world caves in, Burns down, Collapses down around you
I hope you know, Your face will never be forgotten and you will know fame
As your life falls out, Burns up, Explodes from deep within you
I hope you woe, Your time as a decaying idol will fade as well as your name
