TRAIL
Sister Dharma blessed
On paths that ever wind
Not every hill is Everest
A scene from Durga’s shrine.
Not every climb's a quest,
Nor valley, Shangri-La ,
Nor Nagarkot, a rest,
Nor Orion, a shooter's star.
Not every guide knows the way
Not every grin's a smile.
And not all pray for prey
Or find this trail, a trial.
On paths that ever wind
Not every hill is Everest
A scene from Durga’s shrine.
Not every climb's a quest,
Nor valley, Shangri-La ,
Nor Nagarkot, a rest,
Nor Orion, a shooter's star.
Not every guide knows the way
Not every grin's a smile.
And not all pray for prey
Or find this trail, a trial.

Whale, every time I read one of your pieces I get enlightened by the many references of hinduism and culture. I know that you have such a beautiful gift of weaving wisdom with poetry and I must say not too many poets around du are capable of such.
it's a delight to read your work.
The last two lines are quite intriguing!

LOL! :) I get the feeling that JohnF reads ALL poems on DUP, so like a long journey, and then stops a meditative rest at your poem. :)

The trail is the whole... It's easy to forget that, when some elusive destination distracts us. Thanks for the reminder... in poem form!

What we have here is [3] tight, potent little pills crafted to elicit thought.
The last two lines is when it hits you that there's much more depth to the chanting rhythm, immediately enticing multiple reads.
Thanks for the stimulating read, whale.
