once
Once I knew so much more
About life, love
And the strange workings
Of the human mind.
I was much younger then
More sure of myself.
I saw the world in black and white
I knew the answers to all of life’s questions.
I saw the foolishness of unrequited love.
I scorned the love-struck.
I knew what I wanted in life and how to get it.
Once everything I knew was wrong.
I had all of the wrong answers,
Or all of the right answers
To all of the wrong questions.
Now I know none of the answers.
Now I see the world in grey.
I’ve been a fool in love.
I don’t know what I want in life or how to get it.
No, I know none of the answers
But I’m finally asking the right questions.
