Leash

The snows never been so white
And what I feel has never been so real
I used to have to close my eyes because it was too bright
But now I look on fine
Like after eating a light meal
I can't stop hearing that ticking from
The dining rooms clock
And I sure as hell can't turn time back
Yet still somehow my mind does that
On the dining room table the cat
Sleeps
Astral projects
In the warm heat
That rises
From the white vent
And in the trees
He surely plays with the birds
In the snow covered branches
Because even these blue jays didn't sense
The change in weather
And I wonder if the song one sings
Is the same collection of chirps
From the days of my ancestors
I do not know all their names
But at my kitchen window now
I see a stain class medallion that says
You are never out of gods thoughts
And i feel like this says enough
Then the dog barks
Because he's tangled round the bird feeder
So I go outside to fix the leash
