beverly street
the road began unrolling
to the south
unknown territory
and the promise of a new beginning
only the demons,
the knots upon the inside
gave chase
and i now, i hope to sort them out
the ends, the frayed
have been pulled back in
and like the willow bends
i will rise
every time the wind is stayed
but for now the wind is howling
and i must move with it
using the untamed
and it's power
to awaken a sleeping spirit
feed the cleansing fire
and find the strength in steal
'fore once that metal has been tested
and tempered, the true strength
will help to heal
between the hear and now
i have grown brittle, damaged, scarred
all the while, it was me. making everything so hard
what i wanted was the dream
not the evil twin
the smiles, the songs
not this godforsaken starting over again
every misstep, makes me scream
every stumble, leaves a lesson
and i'm learning as i go
but scratching at the scar tissue
leaves a pain you will never know
not to say that i am jaded
but, the sparkle is just a little faded
from the wear along the road
i clean up alright though
not quite the sparkle shine, but then, you never know
to the south
unknown territory
and the promise of a new beginning
only the demons,
the knots upon the inside
gave chase
and i now, i hope to sort them out
