Thoughts in the ocean
a mile deep
I surround myself
in my submarine
w/ books
a few friends
and my natural companions
I would rather die here, unknown amongst all of you
when the history is read
I will be on the sidelines
exactly where I wanted to be
I have a desire to have people identify
w/ my work
It gives me such validation
when I read/hear/see art that reminds me
even if I'm not like me peers
and I don't fit in,
neither does this person
and over time here, I have found
my fair share of weirdos
13,Alip (rip),Devilish
Keys and Gloves, Pigeon
it's always how it is to me
but like the voyeur I must confess some jeaolsy
that is until I read the vacant, vain
and UTTERLY superfluous poems
that get regular traffic here
I don't need DU facebook type friends
no, that doesn't matter
I've reached my level of confidence
and found my skills, and when I recieve feedback
it is of the utmost support
And for that I would continue a thousand years
of being unknown to the pseudo's,vidax's and heslops
of this world.
for the stroke for stroke sickens me
and to be popular under those terms
those high school
watercooler terms...
to quote from someone who continues to inspire me:
"I'd rather be dead than cool"

I understand and approve of this message. One doesn't need to have popularity to be special.
But really, could you at least have researched the oldies enough to spell the names correctly?
It's VIDDAX, cap V, double d (and no need for apostrophes).
and really, is he on facebook with teen followers? I don't have an acct there; so I don't know. But Viddax is/was on Deviantart site.

I hope you reply to this, otherwise you can msg, because I have a few corrections, or at least, notes, to make to your post.
Firstly, I view weirdo's as good people, if you saw my Following list, and followed the continuity of the poem you'd be able to discern the people I listed as long time DU friends (although Pigeon has all but left for the same reasons I wrote this piece, which helped give me the motivation to post this, and 13, who I have not seen much of for a while here). Vanity is the point of this piece.
SO, I belittled noone w/ the wierdo moniker,and I missed a d in viddax. And no, I do not view a point in ALL CAPing his name. If he wishes to, fine, but I don't need to shout his name on my poem.
Secondly, I do not have a problem w/ Viddax, he is a fine poet, but, for me, on one hand you have heslop, who I have no qualms at all w/ saying I view him as very pretentious, and on the other hand I feel Viddax would have done very well in English class. He writes very good poems, but they don't resonate deeply w/ me. That is no fault of his, and I don't mean to criticize him, but upon contemplating getting my poems to more readers, and becoming a better poet myself, while seeing the trappings of what the average poetry reader wants to to read, I get frustrated that I have a harder time finding my audience.

I think this poem sums up the feeling of being free and happy in being a less known, in finding an audience and thats that: A few good friends in that submarine". In other words a true deepling
Rather than trying to be something or someone else, a sell-out and all popular. Each to their own and all that steam jazz.
