Fiction Is Dying

. . .There are thousands of novels published in English every year. Thousands. Lately the world needs books like fastfood: stuff you read that has no affect and is forgotten about a week later. It's the scum on literature's back. Fiction is dying, or just swamped in shit. I mean, how does your contribution fair in it all?

Then tell me--
Please enlighten me--
If fiction is dying?
Than what is there to say. . .
For this website.
Our point?
What is there to say for the reasons,
that we put pen to paper and write?
If fiction is dying?
If my books and my words mean shit?
Then tell me where do any of us stand?
Where do our poems stand?
If fiction is dying?
Why are any of us even here?
What is our point of existence?
Don't we all live and die by the pen?
As knights live and die by the sword.
What does any of that matter?
If fiction is dying?
If fiction is dead.
Let us hold a funeral in memorance.

"Here lies fiction, the genre that could've been. . ."

If fiction is dead.
Buried beneath the earth.
A cold stone marking it's life here with us.
If fiction is dead.
Then what is our point?
What do we have left?
Because if fiction is dead.
We all might as well right our autobiographies,
or give someone else the right.
Hand over our final will and testament.
Power of attorney should be granted.
We're all dying next.
Our life support is failing.
We're dropping like flies.
We're choking, and inhaling toxic poison.
Taking our lives with our own hands.
Razors, ropes, knives and pens.
We're closing our eyes.
And sharing our last breath.
So we may rest with our works.
In this grave of masses.
Or set our pyre ablaze.
Because we are nothing if fiction is dead.
We're all in the ground.
Because who's not to say?
Who is not to say?
That poetry isn't next to be called?
Thus making our poems, poetry and prose dead to us as well.
In the ground with fiction as it's side.
Leaving literature mutilate with two pieces of it gone.
Literature dead to us at last.
For if fiction is dead who is not to that poetry hasn't also come to pass?
I can only hope that now you know:

"Don't throw stones, if your house is also made of glass."
