The free will of destiny..
i was thinking about destiny and free will.. free will means that anything can happen... you can go right or left.. and destiny means that something is bound to happen and there's nothing you can do about it and you were meant to go left all along.. but that's a paradox really.. I mean.. if we have free will then nothing is predetermined.. but that would mean that everything that has happened or will happen is a complete accident that reality as we know it is completely meaningless. we shouldn't even exist.. But we have this inner sense of destiny.. we know this because the word destiny wouldn't even exist.. i do believe in destiny.. but i also believe in free will.. They both exist simultaneously.. but i cant for the life of me figure out exactly how that's even possible. its like we have a choice but we don't. but we do.. but we don't.. shit.. my brain hurts!

I guess somethings
are unavoidable, like
meeting someone
unexpectedly, but how
it goes is up to you..:)

yea but whaen you meet that person you feel that sense of destiny wondering what would have happened if you hadnt missed that bus. some things realy do feel like destiny. like the time i missed the buss and had to walk and ended up finding 200 bucks on the ground. so i think free will and destiny feed off of eachother or aare like two opposite sides of a coin. but the feeling that its up to you i think is only part right.. sometimes i feel the hand of God moving in my life. thats wehre that strong sense of destiny comes in. but i guess free will is what makes life worth living because without them both together life would be meaningless.

it's an interesting problem...
perhaps the cards are dealt,
but we still have to play them...
thanks for making me think
about it..:)

I would recommend if you haven't read it..Stephen hawking 's book 'the grand design', he says that free will is an Illusion that we don't make a choice, something in our brain that's too complex to understand(for now) chooses it for us...its very revelatory on the book, you might find the answer you are looking for.

I think about free will and destiny all the time, and I go through several waves of understanding it (of coarse this is all just my own personal perspective on the matter) I remember the day distinctly that destiny died for me. I felt it was a mental and spiritual construct which allowed people to hold the intention of remaining on the "right" path. Although this can have a positive impact, at a certain point in your awakening you no longer need to be upheld by ideas of "right" and "wrong." The discovery comes that everything is far more complex, and yet superbly simple (and so we still exist within a paradox, as all of mysterious Life usually does) when destiny dies you are liberated. there is nothing but choice. but the divine gift of utter free will, might be seen as a burden to a younger soul. with too much choice comes hesitance, and it takes a lot of introspection confidence and grounding to truly wish to be the god of your Life. but when you step inside the flow and begin to trust your inner knowing, its not that you align with destiny, its that you deeply know no matter which direction you go there are seeds laying there for your growth and development. its still your responsibility to plant them and nurture them into something worth while. you can be walking down paradise but if you keep your head down you're going to miss it. alternatively, the back alleys and run down streets needn't damped our spirits if we dance through them. the only destiny i believe in is birth. we were all destined to be born. but after that, the miraculous unfolding of Life is up to us. and maybe to some, that makes it meaningless. but therein lies the fun! the void, the emptiness, the meaninglessness are there for us to paint whatever picture we could ever dream of.

it is the little part of you that loves yourself just a little too much that believes in fantasy called destiny.. do you really believe people were destined to be horrifically gang raped to death, enslaved or live in poverty until they die disease?

No but I believe were destined to live through all of that and to learn about ourself. I believe none of those things can touch the part of us that is real and true.. the fact that I exist is destiny.. what I make of my life is free will..
