Faded Notes and Tired Dolls
Not enough hope is passed through these lips, Too few pleasing words
I’ve got a thousand words to say, But I’ve realized how few are pleasant
I’m trying to change that, If even for a moment, Step in for a carnival
A chaotic conglomerate of clowns, cows, monkeys, and a few oddities
My mind is raging, My imagination has taken an entire new nation
Full of fresh air, Budding plants and trees that crawled from beneath your feet
A family of outcasts, We’re taking over and taking you beneath the table
To wrap around your eyes and drag you through a land once forgotten
Your mind once travelled these halls, Gazing at stained glass wonders
Wondering how they were made, Wondering how color caved in to stay in one place
As your thoughts stumbled upon the great hall, You felt a hand on your shoulder
Father Time smiled so sweetly, And told you of a tale once forgotten
“Once there was a rabbit, Chasing my children through a kingdom of mushrooms
I swear he ate too many, He always bought more clocks but I swore he had plenty
He had a white suit, The color of your parents’ hair, Their complaints are moot
They can’t slow me, They can’t escape me, I am the storm beneath your fingernails”
Your mind once travelled these walls, Gazing at old fashioned photographs
Wondering when they were taken, Wondering how fellows gave such smiles to gals
Like faded notes and tired dolls, They were of a past passed by a present worth returning
A thousand years ago wasn’t so bad, Do not fear what is to come in a thousand more
I’ve got a thousand words to say, But I’ve realized how few are pleasant
I’m trying to change that, If even for a moment, Step in for a carnival
