Dance

DANCE,
DANCE,
DANCE!
I love to dance
To the rhythm of my ancestors beat-intrigued
Engaged
Take me away
With that safari, jungle, Great Plains beat/drums
I call forth the motherland
Inside of me
Caribbean blood
West African genealogy, this step
You can’t teach me
I cut a rug
It’s in me
One, two, three
See me
Sweep thee
Unto your feet
No matter race, color, or creed
Move those feet with me
I am Africa, I am Jamaica
I am Haiti, I am Ghana, Congo
Johannesburg, the struggle that was Soweto
Dance, dance, dance with me
Till you feel me
See what I see
Hear what I hear
On your own
Personal journey
Let the ancestors speak of thee
Take you to places you’ve never been
The lives you’ve never lived
Love the love
Lose the wars
And all in between
Feel the beat
The cymbals are just the sides
To this 4 course meal
Partake and break bread with me
Come let’s go
Celebrate amongst family
For any reason we’re together
Is enough for celebration
So crack the wine
Bring out the cheese
Get those chicken wingz in the grease
And dance, dance, dance
Dance with me
=)
