Cat People
I hear the cat calls at 2am.
I hear the cat calls at 2am.
And I think to myself:
That some of us are a lot like cats.
Seeking affection
while gnawing at another's neck.
Walking with seductions.
Then Gracefully running away.
We, and I say "we" Because I am no different.
We lay in bed most nights
Wanting to be held
But not for too long.
Because then the neediness sets in.
And cats are hardly ever needy.
They are detached.
They are creatures who express independence.
The sad truth is they never truly need us.
They only need themselves.
Some people need them
Some people need cat people.
Some people obsess over neediness.
Others don't.
